📋 How to Use the Run Sheet
1
Fill in the session details
Select the associate from the dropdown (or "Guest" if not logged in). Enter the weather, and the date will default to today. If you're logged in, your observer name is filled automatically.
2
Score each competency during the ride
The run sheet has 34 competencies grouped into 7 IPSGA sections: Preparation, Information, Position, Speed, Gears, Acceleration, and Other Skills. Tap a score next to each one.
1 - Commended
2 - Satisfactory
3 - Requires Development
3
Add a comment next to any competency (optional)
Short observations next to individual competencies help the AI Marquez Summary build a more detailed development report. You don't need to comment on every row - just the ones that stand out.
4
Write Observer Comments
Give a 2-3 sentence overall summary of the ride at the bottom. This is where you explain the ride as a whole and highlight strengths or concerns.
5
Click "AI Marquez Summary"
Marquez reads all your scores and comments, then generates a development plan with:
- Top 3 priority areas (with supportive comments building on yours)
- Strengths the associate showed
- Homework - specific chapters to read from the Logbook
- An encouraging summary paragraph
The development plan is automatically written into the field for you.
6
Save the run sheet
Click Save Run Sheet to store the complete record in the database. All fields must be filled in and all 34 competencies must be scored before saving.
Once saved, a run sheet cannot be edited or deleted. Double-check everything before confirming. Admins can delete run sheets only as part of removing an associate.
🤖 Ask AI Marquez
Marquez is an AI assistant trained on three authoritative sources:
- IAM RoadSmart Advanced Rider Course Logbook (v7, 2025)
- Motorcycle Roadcraft - The Police Rider's Handbook (2020)
- The Official Highway Code (Updated April 2025)
Ask anything about advanced riding - IPSGA phases, cornering technique, overtaking rules, specific Highway Code rule numbers, even "What does IAMSaFE stand for?" - and Marquez will answer with citations to the source material.
Tip: Marquez is especially good at explaining the Why behind techniques. Ask "Why does limit point matter on bends?" rather than just "What is a limit point?"
📖 Reference Guide
The Reference Guide is a structured quick-reference covering all 34 run sheet competencies. Each section has cards pulling content from the three sources (Logbook, Roadcraft, Highway Code).
Use the search bar at the top to find any topic instantly - search for "limit point", "overtaking", "braking" or any specific term.
The navigation bar jumps directly to any IPSGA section. Click any competency card to expand it and see the full content.
📊 Review Associate (Logged-in Only)
Once you and your group have saved several run sheets for an associate, use Review Associate to see progress over time.
1
Select the associate from the dropdown
Only imported associates appear in the list. Ask your admin to add any missing ones.
2
View the summary stats
See total run sheets, how many different observers they've ridden with, date range, and total counts of Commended / Satisfactory / Requires Development grades.
3
Click "Ask AI Marquez to Review Progress"
Marquez analyses every run sheet chronologically and produces a progress report including:
- Overall progress trajectory
- Consistent strengths
- Persistent development areas
- Trends comparing early vs recent runs
- Test readiness assessment
- Focus areas for the next session
